I quickly ran both files through my translators CIS2 Example (3D ver3): This appears to be a manufacturing (Physical) model. I keyed off of entity LOCATED_ASSEMBLY to build the structure and the item_description attribute of that LOCATED_ASSEMBLY to set the member types. 285 total members (247 beams, 37 columns, 1 vertical brace) Quickly overlooking this structure, the beams and columns seem to tie together well. The vertical brace work line seems to fall off the beam workline (in the negative y direction of my global coordinate system. I do not know if this is a problem or not. CIS2 Example (RAM ver7_03): This appears to be an Analysis Model. I keyed off of the enity ASSEMBLY_MAP to build the structure. I used the ASSEMBLY_DESIGN_STRUCTURSL_MEMBER_LINEAR attribute linear_member_type to set the member types. 308 total members (229 beams, 37 columns, 42 vertical braces) Quickly overlooking this strucure, I found that the columns are approxiamtely 280,878 mm (921.5 inches) ) long and lie above the building in my global z direction. Looking at Flr3Col1: #11=(GEOMETRIC_REPRESENTATION_CONTEXT(3) GLOBAL_UNIT_ASSIGNED_CONTEXT((#2933)) REPRESENTATION_CONTEXT('linear_units_context','linear_units')); #361=ASSEMBLY_MAP(#2660,(#1507)); #1074=ELEMENT_NODE_CONNECTIVITY(1,'Start Node',#2227,#1507,$,#2962); #1075=ELEMENT_NODE_CONNECTIVITY(2,'End Node',#2228,#1507,$,#2962); #2227=NODE('np662',#3632,$,#2964); #2228=NODE('np663',#3633,$,#2964); #3632=CARTESIAN_POINT('cp663', (-2800.,1899.99987792969,11670.0009765625)); #3633=CARTESIAN_POINT('cp664', (-2800.,1899.99987792969,292548.03125)); #2660=ASSEMBLY_DESIGN_STRUCTURAL_MEMBER_LINEAR(331, 'Flr3Col1',$,$,$,$,.T., .F.,(),(),$,.COMBINED_MEMBER.,.UNDEFINED_CLASS.,.COLUMN.); #2933=(LENGTH_UNIT() NAMED_UNIT(*) SI_UNIT(.MILLI.,.METRE.)); The vertical brace that corisponds to the one in the previous file also falls off the beam workline (in the positive y direction of my global corrdinate system. I have received several files from RAM in the past and have not seen this column problem before. I have not performed any in depth evaluation on either file. -Barry Butler Development Manager, Design Data
